Delete data by filter
Updated
Use this when something sensitive got recorded, or a test run polluted your numbers, and Reset statistics would be too blunt. Open Site settings → Data → Delete by filter. Owners and admins of the site can use it.
Choose what to delete
Add one or more conditions: a Page, Country, Source, Campaign, UTM source, UTM medium, Browser, Operating system, Device, a Goal or event, or an Event property (its name and value). Each condition is is or contains; a page can use a wildcard such as /blog/*. A visit has to match all of them. Optionally set a From and To date, read in the site's timezone.
At least one condition or a date range is required. To delete everything, use Reset statistics in the danger zone instead.
Preview, then confirm
- Choose Preview. Tidemark shows how many visits and events match, and deletes nothing.
- If the numbers look right, choose Delete…, type the site's domain and confirm.
If new traffic changes the number between the preview and your confirmation, Tidemark asks you to preview again, so you never delete more than you saw.
Whole visits go together
A visit that matches is deleted whole, with every event and property recorded during it. Taking out single events would leave the visit's page count, bounce flag and duration wrong, so deleting whole visits is what keeps your reports consistent. This also means a condition on one page removes the whole visit that viewed it, including its other pages.
Imported history is stored as daily totals, not visits, so it is not touched.
The log
Each deletion is recorded with who ran it, when, the conditions and how many visits and events went. The latest ones are listed under Recent deletions in the same card.
Caution:
Deleting is permanent. Export a CSV or download an export of the site first if you might want the numbers later.
