A segment is a set of filters you save under a name, so you can come back to "visitors from Germany" or "signups from Google" in one click instead of rebuilding the filters each time.

On Tidemark Cloud, segments come with the Pro plan. Self-hosted installs have them without limits.

Save a segment

  1. Add the filters you want on the dashboard (see Filters).
  2. Click Save as segment next to the filters, or open the Filter menu and choose Save current filters as segment.
  3. Give it a name and choose who can use it, then click Save segment. The dashboard switches to the saved segment straight away.

Who can use a segment

  • Only me: a personal segment that only you see. Anyone who can open the site can keep personal segments, viewers included.
  • Everyone who can see this site: a shared segment. Only owners and admins can create or change these. They also show up on public dashboards and shared links, so a visitor can pick them from the Filter menu.

Use a segment

Open the Filter menu and pick a segment from the Segments list at the top. It appears as a filter chip, Segment is …, and you can add more filters next to it. A segment behaves exactly like the filters it holds, including in funnels and journeys.

Rename, update or delete

Choose Filter → Manage segments. Edit the name in place, click Use current filters to replace a segment's filters with the ones on screen, or delete it. A segment can't contain another segment, and a site can keep up to 100.
