Campaign links
Updated
Campaign links help you see which campaign sent a visit, without handing your clicks to a third-party link shortener. Open Site settings → Campaigns.
The link builder
Enter the page address, then any of Source, Medium, Campaign, Content and Term. The Result field shows the full address as you type; choose Copy long address to use it anywhere. Visits that arrive through it show up under Sources and Campaigns in your reports, because the dashboard reads the UTM values from the address. Any UTM values the address already had are replaced.
Short links
Choose Create short link to turn the result into an address like yoursite/l/abc. When someone opens it, Tidemark counts one click and forwards them to the page with the UTM values added. Share the short link in places where a long address looks messy, such as a social bio or a printed flyer.
- A short link can only point at a page on the site it belongs to (or one of its subdomains).
- Deleting a short link stops it working: anywhere it was shared will show a not-found page.
Tracking pixels
A tracking pixel counts a view when a newsletter or web page loads it. Enter a name and a Campaign, then choose Create pixel. In the list, choose Copy image tag and paste it into your newsletter's HTML.
Opens are approximate.
Mail apps may preload images (counting a view nobody made) or block them (missing a real one). Treat pixel counts as a trend, not an exact number.
What is counted
Each short link and pixel keeps one number per day: how many clicks or views. Nothing about the person is stored: no cookie, no address and no visit. The list shows the last 30 days and the total for each. The visit that follows a click is recorded by your site's own tracker, like any other visit, so it is not counted twice.
Plans
Self-hosted installs have campaign links with no limits. On Tidemark Cloud, creating and counting campaign links is part of Pro. If Pro ends, links you already made keep forwarding, but stop counting until Pro is back. See Plans and limits.
