Run Tidemark your way.
Use Docker on your own server or homelab, or upload a zip to the PHP hosting you already have. Same dashboard, free forever, with your data in a database you control.
Docker
For servers, VPSes and homelabs. One container with the scheduler built in; a Raspberry Pi works too.
- Save the file
Name it
docker-compose.ymland setAPP_URL. - Start it
Run
docker compose up -d. - Create your admin account
Open
/install. Update later by pulling a newer image.

For ordinary shared hosting and cPanel. No Node, no SSH, no terminal. It needs PHP 8.3+ with common extensions.
- Upload the zip
Unzip the release. Point the domain at the
public/folder, or leave it: a bundled.htaccessforwards requests and blocks internals. - Open
/installTidemark checks your server, connects a database, runs the migrations and creates your admin account.
- Add a cron job
In cPanel, only if you want queued ingestion and data retention. Updates are one click from the dashboard.
Then add one line to your site
Paste the snippet into your site’s <head>. The dashboard waits for the first pageview, then opens by itself. The script is about 2 KB gzipped and works with single-page apps out of the box.

Questions
Should I use Docker or the zip?
Either one gives you the same dashboard. Use Docker if you run a server, a VPS or a homelab: it is one container with the scheduler built in, updates are a docker compose pull, and it runs as a non-root user with everything that changes kept in one volume. Use the zip if you are on ordinary PHP hosting, where there is nothing to install beyond uploading files.
Does Tidemark really run on shared hosting?
Yes. You upload a zip with its dependencies bundled, open /install and follow the steps. It needs PHP 8.3 or newer and a handful of common extensions, and it works with SQLite, MySQL, MariaDB or PostgreSQL. No Node, Docker or SSH is required. If you would rather use containers, the Docker image does the same job.
Is self-hosting the same product as Cloud?
Yes. Cloud is this same open-source dashboard, run for you, with plans and billing added on top. Nothing in the dashboard is held back from the self-hosted version.
How do updates work?
On a PHP host, the dashboard checks for new releases and can install them in one click, or you can upload the new zip yourself. With Docker, pull the newer image and recreate the container. Either way your configuration and data are kept.
Can I move to Cloud later, or back?
Yes. Export a site from Site settings, then import the file into the other install. Imports can be repeated safely, and goals come along.
Stuck? Ask in the community on Discord. Prefer not to run it? Tidemark Cloud is the same thing, hosted.
